SUMMARY:Ashley Aponte-Rivera Art at Dry Humor
DESCRIPTION:Now exhibiting at Dry Humor\, Ashley Aponte-Rivera (they/them.) Ashley is a Borikén artist whose work explores Taino spirituality\, ancestral lineage\, and the reclamation of Indigenous Caribbean identity. Rooted in research\, oral history\, and cultural memory\, their practice centers on the creation of Zemis as spiritual anchors that honor the past while existing in contemporary space. Ashley challenges narratives of erasure and invites viewers to engage with themes of survival\, continuity\, and reverence. Their art acts as both personal reflection and collective remembrance\, with a contemporary Pop art twist\, amplifying Indigenous presence in modern art spaces.

SUMMARY:"Particle Theory" by Katherine Weinstein
DESCRIPTION:Oxbow Gallery will exhibit the work of Katherine Weinstein in her new show “Particle Theory”. With this body of work\, Weinstein continues to reinterpret her practice\, based on her classical figurative training; embracing a freeness to refine rhythms as she discovers them and finding meaning in ambiguity. The human centered principles of her classical training concede to her curiosity about some unifying force of nature which she feels\, but doesn’t quite understand. \nPlease join the artists at Oxbow Gallery on Saturday\, April 4\, 2026 from 4-7pm for the artist reception!

SUMMARY:Poetry in Puddles
DESCRIPTION:The Elusie Gallery\nThe Surreal Photography of Dave Madeloni. With poetry and other writings by wordsmiths inspired by these images. \nDave Madeloni is a poet himself\, but one whose pen is a camera. Such a statement has been said before for many a painter or photographer. But the analogy stops here! \nMadeloni’s inspiration is at ground level\, where most of us don’t even look. He captures fragments of life\, themselves captured in the reflections of a pond\, or a puddle. Mundane\, anecdotical\, intriguing… \nIt is when he flips the images around that the magic happens: he creates a new reality – ambiguous\, poetic\, puzzling – to encourage a new narrative…

SUMMARY:Visual Poetry @ ECA Gallery
DESCRIPTION:The Easthampton Public Library (EPL) has curated a show at ECA Gallery to celebrate Easthampton Poetry Month! \n“Libraries and poems act as vessels for words\, emotions\, ideas\, and memories\, both offering space and connection. This collection of poems created by community members at the Easthampton Public Library reminds us of the poetry surrounding us all the time\, and that poetry is something that we can be building collectively at any moment. These poems invite us to a heightened awareness of the interconnectedness of people and ideas around us.” \nThe “Visual Poetry” exhibition will feature: printed photos of book spine poetry made by EPL teens\, a selection of zines made in recent EPL workshops\, a collaborative poem created from patron submissions to a passive project we are hosting\, as well as an interactive invitation using post-its that visitors can contribute to in live time.

SUMMARY:Sprout: A writing workshop with middle grade author Taylor Tyng
DESCRIPTION:Join the Easthampton Public Library and the Somehow School for a fun\, hands-on writing workshop with acclaimed author Taylor Tyng! Taylor will introduce his new middle-grade novel\, Sprout—the imaginative story of a girl who lives in a secluded mill town while hiding an extraordinary secret: tree-like antlers (or “plantlers”) that bloom from her head. After diving into the world of Sprout\, young writers will learn how to create unforgettable characters of their own\, and build stories that are both meaningful and magical.\n\nRegistration is required. This Mass Kids Lit Fest event is presented in partnership with the Massachusetts Center for the Book. For a full schedule\, please visit https://www.makidslitfest.org/.\n\nTaylor Tyng is an author of fantastical fiction for young readers. His first novel\, Clara Poole and the Long Way Round\, was called “an engrossing and inventive flight through the skies” by Kirkus Reviews. Its follow-up\, Clara Poole and the Wrong Way Up was published in July 2024.\n\nTaylor Tyng got to writing late. After spending his early years performing in LA rock clubs\, Taylor founded a design agency and a software company\, immersing himself in the art of storytelling. He’s created designs that have traveled to space\, written songs for film\, played bit roles in bad movies\, and occasionally does dumb things like rocket down Olympic bobsled tracks or go snorkeling in Iceland during winter. As a lifelong dyslexic\, Taylor never imagined becoming an author was on the list\, which only proves how random and remarkable life’s journey can be. When Taylor isn’t writing\, he is busy renovating a 1700s farmhouse that just might fall down. He lives outside Boston with his wife\, two daughters\, and a very busy miniature Australian Shepherd.
