In 2024, the ECA Public Art Committee provided vision and guidance for the restoration of the beloved Nashawannuck Pond Wildlife mural on Pine Street, originally painted by Peggy Grose in 2010. The mural restoration project was a true labor of love for ECA and was made all the more meaningful by the guidance, encouragement, and support of Peggy herself.
This project was made possible by the efforts and contributions of many people! Firstly, it was the Have a Heart for Public Art” fundraiser brunch at Galaxy that helped us raise the necessary funds to take this project on — we extend our thanks to Casey Douglass and the entire Galaxy family for making it possible and to each and every one of our community members who attended the brunch that day.
We also extend our thanks to Easthampton’s Department of Public Works for their ongoing support of ECA’s public art projects and to Rich LaBombard for providing additional logistical guidance and support. And lastly, we extend our sincere acknowledgements to the dedicated members of the ECA Public Art Committee for their immense vision and care — enormous thanks to our Chair Denise Riggs, Bob Riggs, Tracey Eller, Jean-Pierre Pasche, and Marcia Morrison!
This mural restoration project was completed in 2024.
