Ruth Sanderson
Visual Artist
As a children’s book illustrator and as a visual artist working in the school of Imaginative Realism, I aim to communicate the beauty of the natural world and the people living in it. I also enjoy painting allegories of nature, the green man, and mythical creatures, worlds of wonder that spark the imagination.
I’ve lived in Easthampton since 2005 and enjoy the strong community of artists and artizans living in the pioneer valley. I grew up in Monson, MA, playing make-believe in the woods and spending lots of time at the library reading books.
I’ve been incuded in many group museum exhibitions and had a solo show at the Norman Rockwell Museum and my original oil paintings from my book The Twelve Dancing Princesses is in their permanent collection. My children’s books have won a number of state awards.
