Nicholas Antonio Rodriguez Martin

Born in Easthampton, Massachusetts, art became an almost immediate part of Nicholas Antonio Rodriguez Martin’s life. He became involved in any and all art programs he could find in the area. After taking drawing courses in Northampton and pottery lessons at Eastworks, Nicholas found the Deerfield Academy Summer Arts Camp (DASAC) when he was about thirteen. DASAC reinforced his love for art and allowed him to explore more mediums such as animation, photography, film, and sculpture before he went to high school. At his high school, Holyoke Catholic, he made sure there was always at least one art class in his schedule. He was awarded an excellence in art upon graduating and had broadened his use of mediums to include painting and ceramic sculptures as well as pottery. He was accepted to Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, a small liberal arts school, in the fall of 2008. There he majored in psychology and minored in studio arts, focusing on 3D design/sculpture and graphic design. Junior year of college Nicholas did a semester abroad at the University of Sussex in Brighton, England. It was during his time in Europe that he discovered a passion for street art and its connection to graphic design. Inspired by some of the local graffiti in Europe and artists like Banksy, he created a number of spray paint stencils. Though he has not had any formal shows he has done commissioned work for individual collectors. As a current senior at Wheaton College, he hopes to further his arts education after graduation in order to pursue more creative career opportunities.
