Elizabeth Tierney Brownlow
Oil Paintings
I prefer to paint from life, either in outdoor settings or using live models, but also paint still lifes and work from plein air sketches in my studio in Easthampton, Massachusetts. My approach to landscape painting is inspired by the late 19th century American Tonalist painters and the American and French Barbizon Schools: her main focus is to capture the elusive quality of light and to use a harmonious palette.
I am a native Californian, but havebeen living New England for the last twenty years. I have been painting and drawing all of mt life. I graduated magna cum laude from Mount Holyoke College with a degree in Art History. I am an associate artist member of Lyme Art Association, the Connecticut Plein Air Society, and the Cape Cod Art Association. I have studied art and painting extensively and has visited museums and galleries throughout the United States, and Europe. I have studied with Donald Demers, William Davis, and Joseph McGurl.
