Come view the exuberant art by Mary Witt and Brianna Ashe at Oxbow Gallery in Northampton in May, 2021, the title Pivot referring to the artists’ reacting to changing times and turning toward the changes. As shared members of Oxbow, Witt’s and Ashe’s work complement each other, contrasting in color and texture focus by Witt and text inclusive for Ashe. Witt creates large paintings with themes such as “Social Closeness (an antidote to social distancing), “Sanctuary” (concern for and advocating for marginalized populations) and “When Worlds Collide”. Ashe creates bold shapes and text with paint and ink, on paper and wood.
