Easthampton, 9/17/18. In celebration of National Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month, the Diversity and Inclusion Center of Easthampton High School (EHS) is collaborating with several organizations to offer a variety of events for students and the community from October 3-November 3, 2018. Calling it “Nuestra Historia—Our History,” the Center’s inaugural program will honor the rich legacy and cultural impact of Hispanics/Latinos in Easthampton. The kick-off day on October 3 will include a morning panel presentation for EHS students and a free evening program that begins in the Café Commons at EHS with a traditional Puerto Rican meal and concludes with a screening of “Resilience” in the auditorium for parents/caregivers and community members. Traditional Latino dinner meal, speakers and a dance troupe will happen between 6-7 pm, followed by the film screening, a short discussion, and dessert. “Resilience” is a Sundance Film Festival selection, and tracks the rise of the national movement to build resilience in our children and prevent trauma and toxic stress. The entire month the center will host several events on EHS campus and throughout Easthampton and Northampton.
