This Art Walk at LOCAL we continue our beautiful exhibit with the spectacular art of 3 amazing local artists.
Grounded in a love of the natural world, the work of Amanda Quinby, Catherine Gibbs and Adell Donaghue explores Light as the subject. Using a variety of materials, including gilded surfaces, oil on canvas, and graphite and ink on paper, these artists offer a panoply of interpretations of both the idea and phenomenon of Light. For each of these artists, the exploration of Light is the primary subject.
Oil painter Gibbs describes her paintings as a way of “becoming attentive to the splendid drama of the everyday world.” Gilder and photographer Quinby notes her “ongoing fascination with the mercurial role of light and its influence on how we see the world.” Painter and printmaker Donaghue describes the “transformation of physical materials into light as a deeply spiritual experience.”
