Artist Statement: The images in this exhibit are from my travels both near and far from home. As an artist I am often drawn to the textures, patterns, and colors that you can only see as you get closer to an object. The act of photographing something or someone allows me to observe all of these little details and see the subject in a whole new way. With my camera in hand I am able to interact with my surroundings differently, observing life around me more intimately.

After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 1999 with a BFA, I began to pursue a career in photography. Although I spend most of my time photographing people, I always appreciate the quiet moments just wandering and finding beauty in all the small details around me.
