“Beyond the Surface” is a celebration of the visual language of art that is steeped in history and traditions. This exhibit represents the merging of two artists, Lynne Adams and Michael MacTavish, whose optimism and keen love of nature form the unifying thread of their art. Lynne and Michael were exploring new approaches to their painting and thought it would be interesting to exhibit work that resulted from their explorations. They have a strong affinity for each others’ art, and they were curious to see how their work might resonate using similar motifs such as trees, sky, mountains and water.

Their impressionistic styles are soothing and inviting, bringing a sense of peacefulness and tranquility. They explore the use of color and vibrancy in a way that allows the viewer to create his or her own understanding of the painting while enjoying the sense of familiarity.
