Anthropomorphic Taxidermy by Erica Pinto
Starting her career as an an avid photographer and potter from western Ma, Erica found her interests twist in a new direction. In the mid 90’s she began her studies at the Birds in Woods Taxidermy Academy, and acquired a deep study of the human body while attending the Connecticut Massage Therapy School. Her anthropomorphic taxidermy, with a macabre and wry sense of humor, is a nod to the Victorian craze. She breathes new life into creatures with traditional taxidermy methods while adding seductive sculptural elements. Her work is a window into the humour noir of absurd beauty, provoking discomfort as well as amusement.
