Vision Tree Mosaics
Mosaics have always spoken to me because of their history, durability, versatility and how they allow us to create beauty from brokenness. I work mostly in glass which is in itself a paradoxical medium– both liquid and solid, grounded and refractive. Abstraction appeals to me, but much of my work is figurative, and I draw from many sources and traditions.
I have been a nurse midwife for 25 years and now divide my time between art and healing, and love the range of self expression and collaboration this allows. I have been an artist all my life, and a mosaicist for the last 3 years or so. i have done interior installations, exhibited and sold my work, and collaborative public installations, most recently at the Norris Elementary School in Southampton MA through a Massachusetts Cultural Council STARS residency grant.
This year I conceived and organized a group show of local mosaic artists at the Elusie Gallery in Easthampton, which was very well attended and which was one of the most successful shows in the history of the gallery
