ARTHAMPTON! A DAY OF CREATIVITY
On October 6, 2012, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Easthampton City Arts+ presents ArtHampton, a day of workshops and demonstrations for registered participants, as well as programs for visitors including exhibitions featuring local artists, studio visits, and food specials at participating restaurants throughout Easthampton.
ArtHampton begins in the morning with workshops in the Eastworks building, at 116 Pleasant Street, Suite 137. Participants will be able to choose from a variety of workshops in three hour-long sessions from 9 – 12:30 a.m., including: a mini-life drawing marathon with Barbara Johnson, ballroom dancing with Steve Bailey, panel discussions on Tactical Urbanism a
nd much more. An exhibition of participating ArtHampton artists will be open to participants in a gallery space when they check-in for workshops.
From 12:30 – 5 p.m. a wide variety of artists will be displaying and demonstrating their work including Boss/Brown Art on Water Street, Lynn Latimer, Michael MacTavish, and Eileen Jager in One Cottage Street; Marlene Rye and Jesse Morgan in the Paragon Arts and Industry Building; Carolyn Clayton, Steven Stankiewicz, Mie Kurahara,and Carol Ostberg in Eastworks; Anselblue Design Studio and Sam Pliska at the Old Town Hall; and many more throughout Easthampton. Concluding the day’s events will be a closing reception at the ArtHampton Gallery from 5 – 6 p.m. in Eastworks, Suite 137. Join ArtHampton artists in the gallery for a celebration of a day of creativity.
Visitors can also enjoy discounts during Arthampton from participating Easthampton restaurants. For a full listing of participating artists and restaurants, visitors can pick up ArtHampton maps throughout the city. The ArtHampton map will also soon be available digitally via QR code found on the ECA+ website and on flyers throughout the area. ArtHampton workshops are $35 and afternoon studio and demonstration visits are free and open to the public. Space is limited for available workshops.
